We’re proud to announce that veritree has officially earned Certified B Corporation™ status, joining a global community of businesses using their power for good.

What Is B Corp Certification?

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The certification is awarded by B Lab, a nonprofit that measures how companies create value within their governance structures, for their workers, communities, customers, and the environment1.

Unlike traditional corporations that prioritize shareholder profit, B Corps commit to purpose-driven models. By certifying, companies legally embed this commitment into their governing documents, ensuring that their mission to create positive impact is protected over the long term.

B Corp Certification is more than a logo or a one-time achievement. It’s a rigorous, comprehensive assessment that challenges businesses to improve continuously, transparently reporting on their social and environmental performance every three years.

Why veritree Became a B Corp

At veritree, our mission is to elevate restoration and unlock investment in nature. Our vision is to make saving the planet simple and reliable. Becoming a Certified B Corporation affirms our mission and holds us accountable to the same standards of transparency and integrity that we aim to bring to global restoration efforts. We pursued this certification not just to enhance our credibility, but to have a framework for continuous improvement as we grow.

We know that B Lab’s standards are evolving, with new, more rigorous certification requirements. veritree is already taking steps to improve areas like our environmental impact tracking, through greenhouse gas emissions accounting which are essential metrics for both our own accountability and future certification cycles.

How B Corp Certification Works

The B Corp certification process is thorough: it typically takes about a year and requires companies to meet (and prove) high standards across five key impact areas:

5 Impact Area Pillars used in the B Impact Assessment

  1. Governance: Ethical practices, mission alignment, transparency, and accountability.
  2. Workers: Employee financial security, wellness, satisfaction, and career development.
  3. Community: Diversity, equity, inclusion, economic impact, and local engagement.
  4. Environment: Environmental management, climate impact, resource use, and stewardship.
  5. Customers: Customer stewardship and impact.

At veritree, we approached the customer section differently due to our unique business model. We consider our planting partners, the local organizations we support on the ground, as our customers, since they are the direct recipients of our funding and impact, rather than the brands we work with to unlock financing for nature. Of course, none of this impact would be possible without the essential role our corporate partners play in enabling and funding restoration through their commitments.

This certification is not a one-and-done milestone – it is issued for three years, during which businesses must continue to meet or exceed these standards and prepare for recertification under increasingly robust frameworks.

Why Our B Corp Certification Matters

Our decision to become a Certified B Corporation reflects our belief that business should be a force for good. Certification allows us to:

  • Publicly demonstrate our commitment to people and the planet
  • Align with like-minded organizations working toward systemic change
  • Continuously identify and improve areas where we can have greater impact

We’re proud to stand alongside fellow B Corps, including many of our own partners like Ecosia, GreenFi, Näak, Eminence Organics and Propellernet, who share our commitment to building a more sustainable, equitable future.

How Partnering with veritree Can Support Your B Corp Journey

Partnering with veritree can provide valuable opportunities for businesses looking to align with B Lab’s new standards, especially as the certification framework becomes more rigorous and comprehensive.

The new B Corp standards emphasize action and accountability across a broader range of impact categories. Through nature restoration and verified impact with veritree, brands can contribute to key areas that may support their own B Corp efforts, such as:

  • Climate Action: by investing in verified restoration projects, brands can demonstrate progress on climate action plans and contribute to the global goal of keeping global warming below 1.5°C
  • Environmental Stewardship & Circularity: partnering with veritree may count as working with suppliers to achieve company’s environmental objectives
  • Government Affairs & Collective Action: brands that collaborate with veritree become part of a community of dedicated changemakers – an example of working collectively to advance positive environmental and social change

As the B Corp framework continues to evolve, companies that embed restoration, transparency, and measurable impact into their business practices are better positioned to meet these comprehensive standards. At veritree, we are proud to support our partners on this journey toward using business as a force for good.

Looking Ahead: A Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Achieving B Corp certification isn’t the end of the journey – it’s just the beginning.

As veritree grows, we are committed to ensuring that our baseline purpose remains intact: to make restoration transparent, scalable, measurable, and meaningful. Scaling our impact comes with challenges, but the B Corp framework helps us stay grounded in our mission.

As our CEO Derrick Emsley puts it:"Working with nature is never easy. This is a process of rapid learning and continuous improvement, every day. We believe that, when done right, restoration can be the most impactful force for good on our planet today. Nature connects people, it inspires action, it creates real, tangible impact—and in a time where we experience the effects of nature loss more and more each day—every little bit helps."

We’re proud to join the B Corp movement and to contribute to a global shift toward businesses that care – not only about profits, but about people and the planet.
